Are You True To What You Believe?

Every day, I get emails from Christians who ask me to share with them "Are You True To What You Believe?" This is really a good question, and I'm glad that they are interested in how I live my life. It's just that I am not sure I can give the answer that they are looking for.

As you know, the question "Is life sacred" has been used for many years as a way to help guide Christians through their daily struggles. But, is it possible to know what "sacred" means? The Bible is clear that God created everything. In fact, there is no such thing as a "strictly 'necessary' or "merely 'pleasurable' part of life." While "everything" is present in creation, God has put the purposes of the universe into motion, and His love in creating a world of beauty and meaning for His children.

So, is it possible to know what "Sacred" means? The concept is actually pretty simple. For me, I consider that my life is sacred because I know what it was like to be in the presence of God before it all came crashing down. That's the kind of life I want. It is a life that gives meaning to the experiences of everyday life, rather than just having life happen.

In fact, in a way, that is the same definition that I have found to be true for others. Of course, we should be careful about making the assumption that anyone who asks that question must be seeking a literal understanding of what life "is." Many people ask this question because they are searching for answers about how to make their lives meaningful. They don't want to be part of the crowd who simply gets what life is, but they also don't want to be part of the crowd who doesn't follow their heart and see it for what it really is. So, do you believe that your life is sacred? If so, are you true to what you believe? If you feel strongly about any particular part of your life, then you must be true to that truth - but your identity doesn't matter - the truth is all around you.

I believe in my heart that life is sacred, and I stand by that conviction. This is also one of the reasons that I allow people to live with me. Sometimes people need to be reminded of why they feel the way they do, and I hope that's a part of the experience that I have when I'm with them. I also hope that I am true to myself in doing so.

In the end, it is my belief that life is sacred, and that each of us is responsible for how we treat it. There is nothing wrong with recognizing the value of our experience as a part of the world. However, it is not an act of submission, nor does it take away our personal agency.

My journey with God gave me the freedom to say that I am true to what I believe. It doesn't matter if my world, or the lives of other people, is the same as mine or theirs. It is up to them to create the life that is meaningful to them. We are all "guilty" for the purpose of realizing that life is sacred, and that the truth can set us free.
