Keeping a Dream Journal is the best way to document your memories and achieve your goals. Why record your memories? Because dreams are universal, abstract experiences we all go through at some time. Keeping a Dream Journal not only helps record dreams, but it can also act as your guide to achieving your goals.
This can be used to help you answer difficult questions that arise during dream interpretation. When I record my dreams, I use the techniques of dream observation and dream therapy. There are two parts to dream interpretation. One is the technical side of interpreting images and words in a dream. The second is more intuitive - what does the meaning of each dream symbolize for me. You can't just look at a dream and interpret it from its "technique" like most people do, because each symbol has an internal, emotional meaning that you have to uncover inside yourself.
For example, when I wake up in the morning, I look at my dream with the eye of discernment, or from the feeling of "presence." My first thoughts are: Am I dreaming? Am I remembering something from my real life experience? Am I remembering an event that happened in my dreams? These types of questions are the questions that keep nagging at me while I am awake, and they can't be answered until I wake up.
Lucid dreaming, however, is different. While you are dreaming, there is no need for "observation." What you "see" in a lucid dream is what you "feel" in your waking life. Dreams are full of emotion, and that's why you experience so many emotions while dreaming, and those are the same emotions you experience in your waking life as well.
So how do you make sense of your dreams? That's where the third secret to remember lies. Lucid dream interpretation can be done with your conscious mind, but you have to be very careful with that. What you want to do is to "listen" to what your subconscious mind is saying.
Your subconscious knows all the things you don't want to do in your waking life. If you are afraid of your job, for example, and you are dreaming about working in a cubicle, your subconscious is saying that you are not successful enough to try out for a job in a cubicle. However, if you are dreaming about your own dream of becoming a success, your subconscious is saying that it's time for you to make a dream come true. By keeping a dream journal, you will be able to decode this information, and in doing so, you will use the third secret to help you in keeping your dreams safe.
